A Sonnet of Christmas

With nutmeg and the jolliest of times
With cinnamon and chocolate and sweets
With wint'ry cold nipping balmiest of climes
And ham with everything, and other treats
'Tis good and fair that we should all rejoice
With all until the end of this good year
And lift up all our praises in loudest voice
And thank God for the blessings granted here
The children losing stockings 'bout the house
The waffles, bacon on Christmas Eve morn
The catching of a wily clever mouse
And  'membrance of the babe one dark night born
For every good and joyous happy face
We'll know God sent his son to grant us grace
